C-Wise is dedicated to giving organic waste and by-products a new purpose. Through our innovative processes, we transform them into high-quality products designed for their best and most valuable use. At C-Wise, we reject the idea of “organic waste”—instead, we see only ingredients for the next stage of improving our sandy WA soils, reducing landfill and minimising our carbon footprint. Many of the turf top dresser, mulches and soil improvers you find in Perth Metropolitan and regional local parks and gardens come from recycling organic by-products and waste generated in the local area Our process involves recycling organic by-products and waste from local councils, seamlessly returning these local waste streams back into the soil.
C-Wise partners with a variety of waste and wastewater contractors to repurpose diverse materials, including:
- Green waste from bulk rubbish collection or local landscaping contractors under council contracts.
- Liquid wastewater, including septic systems, from councils still relying on these systems.
- Grease trap waste from sporting facilities, schools, hospitals, and food service facilities.
- Pond algae and stormwater.
At C-Wise, we manage a wide range of waste streams from various sources, including materials collected from Councils. Our recycling experience across 25 years spans multiple sectors, ensuring sustainable solutions for organic waste.
Here’s a glimpse of the types of waste we handle:

What does C-Wise do?
At C-Wise’s waste receivable facility in Nambeelup, over 150,000 tonnes of waste are processed each year. This includes everything from agricultural by-products to green waste—materials that would otherwise end up in landfill. Instead, through an innovative composting process, this waste is transformed into 80,000 tonnes of premium compost and soil improvers.
These nutrient-rich soils are packed with beneficial soil carbon and microorganisms, making them a game-changer for a variety of uses. Whether it’s revitalizing agricultural land, maintaining lush sports turf, supporting council projects, or enhancing home gardens, our compost and soil products play a vital role in creating healthier, more sustainable environments.
To further our mission, C-Wise has invested in a state-of-the-art facility in the Shire of Murray. This facility is designed to process Food Organics and Garden Organics (FOGO) and convert them into powerful soil improvers, ready to be used within the local community.
East Keralup Development
We’re underway in the development of our new Carbon Recycling Facility, which will be built near our current site in the Shire of Murray. This state-of-the-art facility will feature best-practice composting infrastructure, aligned with the DWER’s December 2022 Guideline for Better Practice Organics Recycling.
The facility will process FOGO waste, green waste, forestry by-products, and liquid waste, turning them into high-quality compost and soil improvement products. Construction will happen in two stages, giving us the flexibility to gradually move operations from our existing Nambeelup facility to the new site over time.
This is a big step forward for us and for sustainable waste management, helping us keep valuable organic materials in the loop and out of landfill!

Powerful Soil Improvers
Composting is a highly effective way to make the most of organic by-products. It transforms materials like liquid wastes, manures, green wastes and spent agricultural wastes into valuable organic compounds that greatly enhance soil health when returned to the land. When it comes to manures, composting stabilises nutrients, providing slow-release benefits over time. By composting, we reduce the potential for odours and insect breeding that can occur when organic by-products are left unmanaged. Additionally, composting helps reduce landfill contributions and plays a key role in closing the loop on sustainable agriculture.
Our powerful soil improvers, top dressers, and mulches are used in a wide range of applications, including agriculture, horticulture, viticulture, vegetables, turf, landscaping, and home gardens. We’ve worked closely with several councils to “close the loop” — receiving waste destined for landfill and transforming it into a high-value carbon source within the same council.
